A two-year 4-level MESL program partners with SCcyber ELearning Institute in Calgary, AB.
Communities for Life’s ESL Program in Manchay opens doors to new opportunities for students of all ages. Launched in partnership with SCcyber E-Learning Institute in Calgary, Alberta, the two-year, four-level MESL program is designed to provide students with foundational and advanced English skills that can lead to employment in tourism and other growing industries. The program is led by a certified Canadian ESL instructor, Dalene Volschenk, who teaches virtual classes multiple times each week. Classes are facilitated locally at the Life Resource Center, where C4L staff like Rocio and Julio guide and support the students during their lessons.
With up to 16 students enrolled at a time—from teens to adults in their 50s—this inclusive program shows powerful results. Students are gaining confidence as they learn to read, speak, and understand English, progressing from basic vocabulary to full sentence comprehension. Thanks to the ongoing support from Dalene Volschenk and her Calgary-based ESL education initiative, the program is fully funded for two years. As students grow in their language skills, they also expand their opportunities for work, connection, and self-sufficiency, making this one of C4L’s most impactful educational offerings.
